VANDALISM
PUT AN END TO VANDALISM!

Vandalism has always been a common issue to the community yet there are still places that doesn’t take action regarding this issue. This is mainly the reason why our team is having this campaign called “Put an End to Vandalism”. Our mission at the end of this campaign is that the people will be aware of how vandalism happens, its causes and effects, ways on how to avoid it, and of course for the people to know how this problem can be solved.
Vandalism is Punishable by Law

Vandalism is a crime. In the Philippines, it is one of the most common offended crimes. It is stated in the 14th congress of the Philippines Senate Bill No. 3042 or in the Anti- Vandalism Act of 2009: “Any person who commit any of the aforementioned acts of vandalism shall, in addition to payment of the expenses for restoration of the property vandalized, suffer the following penalties: First Offense, a fine of PhP5,000; Second Offense, a fine of PhP8,000; and for the Third Offense, a fine of PhP10,000, plus imprisonment of not less than 30 days but not more than 1 year depending on the gravity of the infraction.”
In other countries, people who commit vandalism in the power of the MPM administration may be charged under the Vandalism (Mdm) By-Laws 1992 (Act 171). Under such law, upon conviction, a perpetrator of vandalism will be fined not more than RM 1000 or imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or both. While for continuous offense, the perpetrator will be fined not more than RM 100 for each day the offense is committed. This should be stop! Vandalism is a crime that has a major effect on our quality of life and costs us money to repair. It’s easy to dismiss it as a minor offence, but it has a big impact on our communities. This is the major solutions we should do! Reporting vandalism. If you notice that Council property has been vandalized, you should report it to the authorities. If you see someone vandalizing property, you should contact your local police or your local community policing team. If you’re on public transportation and you see somebody vandalizing your bus or train, call the bus/train company and let them know. If you think that what you’ve seen could be dangerous (such as someone setting fires), or you feel personally threatened, please call the police. But more than that, self-discipline is key! When a person has self-control, then he’ll never do things that can affect his life, his family, or even the community. Bare that in mind! PUT AN END TO VANDALISM!
